The Mountain Music Championship is held annually
on the third Saturday in June. This event features individual

Additionally, there are separate old-time and bluegrass categories
for the fiddle,
banjo and band competitions.

HARVEST
FESTIVAL & ANTIQUE TRACTOR SHOW
October 17-19, 2008
Fall brings color to the mountains and harvest time.
Our three-day celebration begins at 6:00 on Friday evening with
an old-fashioned bonfire, complete with hotdogs, marshmallows,
stories, music and often a visit from Civil War era soldiers on
patrol from their nearby camp.
Saturday offers a full day of activities
beginning at 11:00. The grounds are filled with the sounds of mountain
music and dancing feet. Hit and miss engines, antique tractors
and the corn-grinding exhibit provide more excitement. Local artists
offer their handmade crafts and foods for sale, often conducting
demonstrations of their craft as well. The Country Fair provides
a chance for many local residents to win blue ribbons for their
gardening, canning, baking, sewing, woodcraft and other skills.
The Civil War encampment and horse exhibit takes you back to a
different time and way of life. A wide range of great home cooked
food is also available. All
of this and much more make this Saturday a special day!
After a
good night’s rest, the weekend ends
with a Gospel Singing on Sunday afternoon from 2-5 pm. Local gospel
singers, quartets and other gospel groups fill the auditorium with
their songs of praise.
