YOUTH
PROGRAMS
After School
The Center offers the award-winning Support Our Students after school
program for our youth. Students enrolled in Graham County
Schools grades 4-8 may participate free of charge at sites located
in both Stecoah Valley Center and Robbinsville Middle School.
Both program sites offer a healthy snack, homework or other academic
assistance, social and cultural activities as well as recreational
opportunities.
Junior Appalachian Musicians
After-school program students at Stecoah Valley Center are also
offered the opportunity to participate in the Junior Appalachian
Musicians (JAM) program. JAM students learn to play the fiddle,
banjo, mandolin, guitar or upright bass, using instruments provided
by the Center. All lessons are free of charge. JAM students often
perform at local festivals and events as well as at the end-of-year
recital and open house. This important program offers the students
a chance to reclaim and help preserve the music of their heritage. |
K-3
Graham County School students K-3 now have an after
school program. The children get a healthy snack and have academic, music/arts/crafts and recreation opportunities. This program is not part of the free Support Our Students
program; the cost is $85 per month.
Summer Adventures Camp
The Center also provides a summer camp
for rising 4th through 8th grade Graham County School students. The
Summer Adventures camp will offer a variety of activities and field
trips during the week of June 11-15, 2007. Please call Renee Accord,
After-school Program Coordinator at 828-479-3939 for additional
information about this camp and all of our youth programs. |
